APPROVED IMPORTER STATUS

In April 2022, DEFRA imposed a travel ban for dogs originating from Romania, Belarus, Ukraine and Poland. Once the travel ban was imposed we could no longer bring dogs into the UK - those we had reserved were kept in paid foster care in Romania until the restrictions were lifted.

In late October 2022 DEFRA announced applications could be made for APPROVED IMPORTER STATUS.

We immediately applied and shortly afterwards  we were delighted to receive APPROVED IMPORTER STATUS from DEFRA.

We have now resumed the process of bringing dogs into the UK.

2022 SPAY & NEUTER CAMPAIGN

We are delighted to say that in October 2022, we again were once again, working with our partners at TAC.social (Anca Georgescu) in Romania having funded a spay and neuter campaign for stray dogs or for dogs from poor families. This  resulted in the prevention of hundreds of litters and poor futures for these dogs.

We are especially excited because Colleen and Beccy self funded a trip to go out and physically support the campaign.

We saw how your donation money was being used in action making a real difference. We also saw a very poor area of Romania called Pata Rat where the people and animals all survive on rubbish dumps. It took a while to gain the peoples confidence in us and they soon let us help the dogs in this area.

Finally we meet the lovely Ana Maria Max who we have had many lovely dogs from. She is one of our trusted rescuers.

It was a busy few days, but it was really good to see the benefit our funding can do.

This can’t be done without our supporters consistently getting behind us and supporting our fundraisers - so a huge thanks to everyone who has helped.

Spay & Neuter Campaign

Aiton, Romania 1st-3rd Oct 2021

We are absolutely proud as punch to report that as a result of funding our Spay & Neuter campaign with TAC Medicina Veterinara Sociala, 59 dogs have been spayed/neutered. This means less dogs breeding and having associated health issues.

Massive, massive thanks go to our partner organisation TAC for all their organisation and hard work.

2021 Reunion Day & Calender Photoshoot On 15th August 2021, we had a reunion day for the Cloud K9 dogs and their adopters. It was lovely to see so many CK9 dogs and we would like to thank each and every one of their adopters for taking the time to come, they are an absolute credit to you all, they were fantastic. We know this calendar is going to be amazing!!

The final total of funds received from the Doggy Lottery is £863.92. Thank you to everyone who took part and also Lee and Lisette from the Doggy Lottery, just fabulous (and good fun too!).

We would just like to thank

Farplace Animal Rescue

for the fantastic donation they have given us to help with our work.

Based in the AONB area of the North Pennines, they rescue and help all kinds of animals - from Cats to Terrapins. Please click on their logo to take you to their page to understand more of the great work they do. In these days of very limited fundraising, they have been kind and generous enough to support us with our work in Romania.

We are extremely grateful.

A huge thank you to everyone who has helped and supported us - here's to welcoming the dogs of 2021 !!

Winner of Best and Reserve Best in Show - 2020 CK9 Christmas Dog Show

Full competition results are on the Facebook group.

Well done to all class winners and a huge thanks to everyone who entered and also to the judges who have had such a challenging time picking the winners.

Stephen's Visit to Romania......

Our dear CK9 friend Stephen has made it to Oravita and there are sadly too many familiar faces still there and also on the streets fending for themselves, since our visit in February, yet sadly, so many new faces too.

Last week, through your kind donations, straw was delivered to this public shelter to offer some comfort and warmth to the dogs. Its a very basic requirement for the dogs with minimal cost. Cosy beds are what we all dream of for these dogs but if given in a public shelter environment are often wet through within half an hour or ripped to shreds through boredom and frustration.

The majority of the dogs we have offered a foster space to this year are Oravita public shelter dogs and we will continue to offer support to the wonderful people volunteering to care for them. The majority of these dogs are no different to those we have in our living rooms.

Anya, Skittle, Phoebe, Domino, Jaffa, Evie (Betty), Oliver, Elmo, Tom (Charlie), Piper, Maggie, Helen (Clyde), Peanut & Polly are all from this public shelter, and there will be many more in the future.

This shelter, as you can see from the photos, is open to the elements and is situated well away from town, next to a rubbish tip where so many stray dogs live, searching for food with no shelter - it is difficult to decide who are better off. More updates to follow when Stephen will bring five lucky dogs back to the UK with him on this trip.

Its a busy weekend with our fundraising efforts with the Photo Dog Show coming to an end at 8pm on Sunday evening - if you are touched by the plight of the dogs in the photos then please do donate or enter our fundraiser - together we can and do make a difference - thank you x

Your support helped us provide winter bedding...

Without your help we can’t help the ladies on the ‘front line’ in Romania. In this case we paid for bales of hay to help keep the dogs dry and warm this winter

Trip to Romania

On a very wet and cold Sunday morning, a few of us loaded up Stephen's van ready for it's first trip to Romania later this week.

It is crammed full of dog food, treats, towels, blankets and dog beds kindly donated by some of our wonderful supporters.

Thanks to you, the dogs will have a bit of comfort during the harsh Romanian winter.

Both CK9 and the dogs in Romania are extremely grateful.

Stephen will also be bringing dogs back on the return journey and we can't wait to introduce Fletch, Abbie, Boomer, Bobo and Autumn to you all. We will keep you posted.

Once again, thank you all so much for your continued support.

Neuter/ Spay Campaign - Belis County, Romania

We are absolutely thrilled to be able to say that we have, at last, funded a neuter/spay campaign in partnership with a superb veterinary organisation, TAC Social who regularly go to different locations, throughout Romania, where the need is most.  Belis County was chosen this time as reports of stray dogs being shot or hung, in this increasingly popular tourist destination, were being told.

This has long been our No. 1 desire but due to Covid 19 this year our fundraising events have had to be put on hold. Thanks must go to our very generous supporters who have made this possible.  Over fifty dogs were neutered, mainly strays but some owned by local people who get their dogs neuter/spayed, health checked and any further treatment all free of charge.

Our plans for 2021 are to continue to support TAC as to stop the birth of so many unwanted, unloved and discarded puppies is the only way forward to end the suffering of so many

Please follow the link below to donate 1 euro per month to TAC so that their vital work can continue - thank you

Massive thank you to Sue Allen and her team at East Ruston Cottages based in Norfolk.

We have received a donation of £500 as a result of their scheme whereby £4 from every booking goes into a pot and is split between 3 deserving dog rescue charities.

We were so thrilled to be chosen as one of those recipients. From lots of previous experience, we can seriously recommend East Ruston Cottages for that perfect dog friendly holiday in Norfolk. They do not charge for your dogs and there are no restrictions on the number of dogs you can take.

Please have a look at www.eastrustoncottages.co.uk, but be warned, their cottages are very popular!

Please tell them that Cloud K9 sent you

OUR NEW FUNDRAISING SUPPORTER

We are delighted to have been selected by East Ruston Cottages as one of the beneficiaries of their charity funding for the second quarter of 2020.  We thank them very much for their help and we would like you to look on their website - they have some fantastic dog friendly holiday cottages. Please check them out.

One of our trustees Beccy comments:

"You guys are awesome!!! We have been selected as one of East Ruston Cottages beneficiary charities for the next 3 months. You definitely went a long way to helping with this. As a small charity whose main fundraisers have been cancelled for the next few months, opportunites and support like this is invaluable. You may not know that because we rehome dogs from abroad, we do not qualify for a lot of trusts and grants in the UK that other animal rehoming charities can. THANK YOU!!!
A huge thank you to Sue at East Ruston Cottages for offering such a scheme. Just fabulous 🙂"

WELCOME TO OUR NEW TEAM MEMBER & TRUSTEE

We are absolutely delighted to inform everyone that CK9 has a new trustee joining the team and we really could not be happier to welcome this lovely, dedicated lady to our group - lets introduce Rebecca Atkin to you all .......

"I was a trustee for ten years at a local cats and dogs home, somewhere I was and still am proud to have involvement in. I stood down from the committee as I felt I wasn't giving enough time due to my first dog getting old and we'd just bought a house to do up.

My husband and I have three rescue dogs. Tilly, from Leicester Animal Aid, now aged 13; Cassie aged 7, from Ireland and Teagan aged 3 who is our Rommie rescue.

I've done agility with all my dogs, with varying degrees of success 😂, but always fun is the priority. I actually did agility in the main arena at Crufts with my first two, promoting rescue dogs, that they have so much to give. Proud moments.

I feel I need to make a special mention to my first dog, Milo, who opened the door to the world of dogs. The reason I've met so many lovely people, met some fabulous dogs and made some friends for life. We lost him at age almost 15 and he took a part of my heart with him.

I look forward to being a trustee and being part of the CK9 team and following lots more fabulous dogs on their journeys to a better life"  - Beccy

CK9 DOGS RESERVED IN ROMANIA

Following our visit to Romania at the end of February, we HAVE RESERVED these beautiful dogs.
Our aim, once restrictions are lifted, is to bring all of these dogs to the UK for rehoming. Unfortunately, due to our fundraising events bring cancelled, our piggy bank is a bit skinny. If anyone could spare a couple of pounds (or more) to help us, we would be extremely grateful.
This will help us fund the vital vaccinations, microchips and passports etc for these deserving dogs.
Thank you so much for your support. Please mark your donation " Reserved Dogs" ❤

Beautiful LEILA is currently out of the shelter and in foster care in Romania thanks to Anita Shaw who is paying her foster fees.

Thank you so much Anita xx
